We're about a month away from the arrival of the new Ghost Recon game.
Wildlands will offer a different take on the Ghost Recon series, putting
players into an open world where they'll be battling the notorious cartel
operating in Bolivia. Ubisoft has been working hard at making the vast space a
fun and exciting playground, and as they describe it "The possibilities
are kind of endless". Here are your toys, here's the sandbox, play the way
you want to. Here is the latest information about the arrival of Ghost ReconWildlands.
I got a chance to play a few missions of Wildlands, and the experience
highlights team cooperation and in order to get most out of the game you'll
have to be very vocal. Your team's missions is to take down the Santa Barbara
drug cartel, which is running a fictionalized South American country with an
itchy trigger and a tight fist. As you may assume, dismantling this cartel will
take a lot of time and different kinds of missions. There will be enemy
outposts that need liberation, key targets to interrogate or assassinate, and
various other ways to interrupt the group's doings.
Player choice has become an assay mark of open-world games nowadays, and
Wildlands is no exception to that. For instance, you'll be able to side with
local rebels to help out in fights against more powerful factions in the Santa
Blanca cartel. Or you can simply try and instigate in-fighting in the cartel
itself, by manipulating its members and using misinformation. Or you can create
distractions in one area to help you sneak and complete objectives with greater
ease. All of these choices will have an impact on the region, so think
carefully about when you want to play it stealthy and when to cause mayhem.
This installment brings the fighting adventures to South America. The
varied terrains of Bolivia will be the backdrop for Wildlands. There will be
hundreds of local landmarks, villages and points of interest to explore.
There's a day and night cycle and a full weather system, which will impact how
your squad chooses to tackle each mission. The natural landscapes of Bolivia
mean many different looks to the environment, and Ubisoft is promising
everything from salt flats to highlands to canyons and jungles. In terms of
terrain and locations, this game is keeping things fresh.
Most of the last changes in the game have been all about customizing your
Ghosts. Appearances can be altered to include bandanas or bears. Just about
every detail of your gear and appearance can be tweaked, so you can create the
alter ego of your dreams and role-play yourself. And of course, weapon load outs
can also be created to your taste.
